One of the top portafilters in the range is this Steel Duo PID. The Duo clearly sets itself apart from the thermoblock machines often frowned upon in the portafilter scene. At its heart are the specially developed high-performance thermoblocks, which create a very good espresso and can even keep up with the steam output. The advantage of this technology is, of course, the economical energy consumption, as well as a somewhat faster heating time of around 10-15 minutes with a portafilter, compared to classic boiler machines. With this performance, you don't need to shy away from guests or wait in line for long mornings in the extended family.

In everyday use

In everyday use, the Ascaso has various useful features to assist with both the initial start-up, through to figuring out the perfect espresso shot. With the built-in display, the brewing temperature can be set to the exact degree with a built-in PID controller. Two portions can be set via the built-in quantity programming and started via a separate control switch. During brewing, the display shows a shot timer to monitor the exact brewing time. While the barista lights stylishly illuminate the Ascaso's work surface. With the adjustable pre-infusion, the experienced user can pre-brew their coffee by lightly moistening the coffee spit. Depending on the coffee bean and blend, this allows the full potential to be extracted from the bean. To make the Ascaso even more energy-efficient, an eco mode has also been installed, which can either be switched off completely or set at different time intervals.

No expense has been spared even on the accessories. The beautiful wooden filter holder lies comfortably in the hand and comes with six high-quality stainless steel filters, as well as an aluminium tamper. The steam lance is also made of stainless steel with insulation that prevents the milk from caking. The Ascaso thermoblock for the steam lance has been designed to maintain its steam power even when there is a lot of milk foaming, almost matching the power of a full-blown boiler machine. A distinctive Italian cappuccino with a dense crema and full flavour can be reliably created. The thermoblocks' lack of waste heaters means that the cups are warmed with a small heater.
