The horizoning tool for the coffee grounds in the portafilter- affectionately known in Italy as the pianacaffe. If you want to be particularly precise with the tamping of your espresso, you need this leveller from the traditional Italian company Motta. This is a tool with which you can perfectly level the surface of the coffee in the portafilter. So you grind the coffee fresh into your portafilter as usual - and instead of starting with the tamping, the Leveling Tool is used first. Place it on the portafilter and turn it clockwise.
This distributes the ground coffee perfectly evenly and homogeneously in the portafilter. A perfect method to prevent channelling - the espresso simply rushes through at less compacted points. Once this is done, you can press the ground coffee with your tamper as usual.
A good thing, very easy to use, with convincing results.
Adjustable height: the height of the tool is adjustable. Hold the upper part and turn the plate anticlockwise. Difficult to do, but feasible. The plate may show traces of the lubricant with which the thread was treated - the lubricant is food-grade.
