The Mahlkönig X54 Allrounder coffee grinder is suitable for ambitious coffee enjoyment at home. All common brewing methods from espresso to French press can be effortlessly accessed. The X54 offers enough leeway in the espresso grind range to make optimal use of it together with a portafilter. The portafilter holder can be adjusted very precisely to the filter holder and does not need to be held during grinding. The small grinding king is triggered with the filter holder via a reference button or via a separate button next to the display. The four timer settings make the Mahlkönig X54 ideal for use as an all-rounder grinder. The first two timer intervals can be set for 1 and 2 espresso, for example, and the others for filter coffee and French press. The big crux of all-rounder coffee grinders is, of course, the grind adjustment. Mahlkönig solves this problem very elegantly by dividing the adjustment wheel into steps and not rotating it through 360°. Which, for example, makes it difficult to switch from espresso to filter coffee with the Mignon series from Eureka, because the adjustment wheel has to be turned through 360°. In addition, the brew methods can be ground in style in the beautiful Mahlkönig container.

Unpacked and set up, the Mahlkönig immediately looks like a small K30, plastic has been avoided as much as possible (even in the designer packaging) and all components look very valuable. The new grinder adjustment via a wheel is very successful and the grinder can be adjusted very precisely and easily, with a pleasant resistance. Even the drip tray has small magnets to prevent it from rattling. Apart from the size, there is hardly any difference to the large Mahlkönigs from Hamburg, but the new generation comes from the Far East. For a quick start, Mahlkönig kindly indicates the different grind ranges for all preparation methods in the operating instructions. The portafilter holder can be easily removed at the touch of a button and replaced with the filter coffee cover. The grinding noise is pleasantly quiet and the small ejector ensures that the ground coffee falls into the portafilter. With a view to the future, the X54 coffee grinder can also be configured via WLAN and various statistics, such as the supply counter, can be read out. All in all, a very successful coffee grinder with new ideas and a good price-performance ratio.
